!This is an Al Zulich/Denver Zoo x Biak OC pairing, The male MH 0507 is a Biak x Wamena production. The female JD 0302 was produced by John Davenport. Her lineage includes the Al Zulich blue female "AZ 15" and zoo blood, back to some of the original US WC founding stock. This is an incredible pairing of designer lineage with fresh Biak OC blood.
Estimated prices for babies = $400 to $600 for yellows if produced and $850 to $1,000 for reds based on appearance.
11/28/08: This pair has been locking up daily for weeks and the female appears to be developing follicles.
12/30/08: This female is still on feed but looking very swollen.
1/26/09: The female is slowly going off feed and I will post new info as it is available.
3/2/09: The female has remained on feed and a defecation removed any thoughts of possible follicle development. She has how ever color shifted, the male has shown no interest in her since December when the last recorded copulation was noted on 12/8/08. I have decided to introduced a new male instead of possibly getting slugs due to the extended time frame from the last copulation.(Well over two months!) I have decided to let her brother take a stab at knocking her up and so far they have been breeding nightly. I will update this page as things progress. I have adjusted the estimated prices to reflect the potential for multiple sires, though with the time frame between the last observed copulation , the 1st male complete lack of interest and movement at night. I am certain that the 2nd male will be the sire and considering the lineage involved here and that it could be a sib x sib line breeding the prices are more than fair.
4/1/09: After four weeks of near nightly copulations this girl finally ovulated. I am excited to see the neonate hatch colors, and I am expecting a 75% red 25% yellow split if JD 0301 is the sire to the clutch. If the MH Biak OC is the sire their is a chance for an all red hatch.Let the waiting commence!
5/13/09: This girl has completed her shed cycle and has been spending her nights in the nest box. The clutch should be laid in the next week, and I will update this page with the out come.
5/23/09:This girl started laying her clutch at 5am and and laid twenty nine fertile eggs and one fully formed slug. The eggs are all set up in the cooker and I am hopeful I will see some red and yellow heads in 52 days!
7/19/09: The eggs have hatched and like the two previous sib x sib pairings with JD-03-02 and a female sister it was a train wreck! I was lucky enough to hatch eight babies. Though one passed to date making the total seven live babies. I will add updates as the babies begin to feed
The male belowJD-03-02 was the second male to breed the female JD 03-01and I feel he will be the sire to any offspring produced.
